A touch of summer lingered in flowers and butterflies on a September wander through Didsbury's Parsonage Gardens and the Fletcher Moss Alpine Garden. Autumn tree crimsons were beginning to burnish leaves, but a dragonfly flew past, as fairytale huge and unlikely as the giant rhubarb like leaves round the lily pond. A gentle kind of day, where volunteers were cheerfully planting out bulbs by the tennis courts, it was an afternoon with a magical touch, one to appreciate.
